Superhero Wheels up for Auction
Ok, it may not be the original, but this fantastic tribute to the famous Batmobile is one of those rare recreations that is actually nailed together properly and useable – of sorts.
The original film Batmobile was built on a Chevrolet Impala chassis with a Chevrolet V8 engine powering the car along. This little monster however is powered by a somewhat more civilised Jaguar 3.2 litre straight six and sits on a bespoke chassis.
Although this classic film car recreation doesn’t have the original Jet turbine engine with afterburners, it does still have a fully operational flame thrower at the rear, plus hydraulic suspension enabling the car to be lifted a further nine inches off the ground. This is further complimented by a smoke release mechanism, remote full releasing electronic canopy, remote ignition and full LED running lights, dashboard display and front and rear cameras.
This is one of the best after-production Batmobiles ever made and the best bit is that it’s completely road legal!
If you are in need of some suitable wheels for dealing with pesky criminals, this fabulous and striking machine is estimated at £70,000 - £90,000.
It will be auctioned alongside 117 other classic cars and a fascinating array of automobilia at Historics at Brooklands’ winter auction venue, Mercedes-Benz World, near Weybridge, Surrey on Saturday, 30th November, from 10.00am, with viewing on the previous day.
