Little Classics Feature: 3 May 2015
Donington Park Echoes to the Sound of Classic Racers
Once again the Donington Historic Festival saw hundreds of classic cars gather in the carpark, centre field and battling it out on track.
The three day extravaganza attracted a host of classic car clubs, bringing together a wide variety of classics from Sunbeam Tigers and Ford Capris to Austin Healeys and Porsche 991s. However, despite all the classis on the infield, it was the track and paddock that really drew the attention.
Privateers and professional outfits alike packed the paddock with rare and exotic racing cars and even a few famous support vehicles. Despite some companies packing their big guns with eye-watering budgets, the event still allowed crowds to wander amongst the many machines and witness the flurry of activity to prepare some priceless racers.
Racing on the track included classic touring cars, historic Formula 2, historic Formula Junior and even an array of pre-66 Grand Prix cars and World Sportscar Championship and GT cars.
What we love at these events is that despite the values of these historic machines, they’re still driven in anger at a competitive level to ensure they live the lives they were designed for.
With so much going on, we have gathered just a sample of our favourite shots from the event and even a little sample below of the cars in action.
