Classic Restorations Line up for New Owners

1961 3.8 Litre Mk II Jaguar

Silverstone Auctions is gearing up for its second sale at the Practical Classics Restoration Show, taking place at the NEC on Saturday 28th March.

Running alongside the classic car show designed to help us restore our beloved vehicles, the sale will offer the chance to acquire some extraordinary restoration projects and compelling barn finds, as well as a few special, road ready classic cars.

Entries are now invited into the sale with interest placed on classic car discoveries as well as classics in quality condition. The catalogue closing date is 11th March.

1973 Ferrari 246GT Dino

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: "We are delighted to be hosting our second sale at the Practical Classics Restoration Show. As the market for barn finds grows ever more in demand, we look forward to providing another opportunity for enthusiasts and collectors to purchase these exciting cars."

Highlights of last year's sale included a 1958 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe and a 1967 Aston Martin DBS V8 Series 1 barn find. However, one of the most impressive classic barn finds ever sold by Silverstone Auctions has to be a 1973 Ferrari 246GT Dino (above). The Ferrari remained untouched for over 39 years and sold for a phenomenal £132,250.

A number of classic cars have already been consigned into the sale, including a 1961 3.8 Litre Mk II Jaguar (top), purchased by the previous registered keeper in 1974 and not used since a tree fell on his garage, is in need of total restoration and offered at no reserve.

1936 Jaguar SS DHC

Another classic Jag, a 1936 Jaguar SS DHC (above), also in need of restoration, is also part of the sale. Remaining unfinished from a previous restoration starting over 40 years ago, this is an opportunity to own and restore a true piece of history.

Not so much a restoration project, but certainly a head-turner, is one of our favourites – this 1963 Renault Estafette (below). In excellent condition, the rare Estafette 800 has the upgraded 'Sierra' 1108cc engine and would make a perfect vehicle for, well, it’s just cool, you don’t need a reason.
