Classic Entries Invited for Summer Auctions

Rolls-Royce CornicheFollowing two record-breaking sales so far this year at Race Retro and the Restoration Show, Silverstone Auctions is now inviting quality entries into its summer auctions taking place at its spiritual home of The Wing, Silverstone.

The auction house is on the lookout for classic cars, race cars, classic motorcycles, automobilia as well as luxury and classic lifestyle items.

Just weeks away is the May Sale, taking place on 24th May. A number of exciting cars have already been entered into the catalogue, which closes on 14th May, including a 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche (top), chassis number 001, estimated at between £95,000 and £105,000.

1963 Ford Lotus CortinaOur personal favourite from the line-up so far is this rather special 1963 Ford Lotus Cortina, built and prepared for FIA saloon car racing by Guy Smith Motorsport to full FIA specification. Having been greatly cared for and perfect for classic racing today, it would be a worthwhile investment for either collector or classic racing enthusiast.

We also spotted a rather lovely 1959 BMW Isetta 300 (below), built in Britain and treated to a full ground-up restoration at some point in the past. Today, it still only lists just over 30,000 miles on the clock. A true little classic.

1959 BMW Isetta 300The flagship sale of the year, the Silverstone Classic Sale, returns for the fourth year running and taking place over two days on July 26th and 27th. Last year’s amazing catalogue included classic cars such as 1958 Jaguar XK 150 S Roadster with just 580 miles on the clock and a stunning 1963 Aston Martin DB5, which helped generate a total sales value of over £2million.

Silverstone Auctions has already managed to secure a beautiful 1950 Healey Silverstone (below), estimated at between £160,000 and £180,000, which will be available to view along with a number of other early entries at the Silverstone Classic Media Day on 30th April.

1950 Healey SilverstoneNick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: “This year is already shaping up to be a very special one indeed and so I would encourage potential vendors to get in touch with the team to take advantage of our service as soon as possible.”
