Castle Combe Circuit Announces Provisional Timetable for October’s Autumn Classic

Castle Combe Classic MGAfter its inaugural event’s success in 2012, Castle Combe Circuit’s Autumn Classic race day is back on Sunday 6th October 2013 with additional races, more displays and even greater appeal.

With the enthusiastic backing of Bristol Forklifts and Carole Nash Insurance much interest is being created with the first ever appearance at Castle Combe Circuit of Formula Junior with the single seaters adding even more variety to the race programme.

With a compact one day format qualifying will get underway at 08.45am with a variety of lunchtime displays starting at 12 noon and racing from 12.45pm. With more drivers, officials and spectators promising to attend in period costume adding to the atmosphere of the event with special displays both on the track and in the surrounding car park areas. To encourage visitors to come along in their period cars special areas will be reserved to allow spectators to park with like minded enthusiasts.

However, it is on the track where the main action is with Formula Junior expected to add considerable excitement to the established sports car format. We will also see the debut of the new Fiscar Flyers as they organise a race for what it is hoped will be the start of a new series for the small racing cars of the 50’s. Back in their heyday these events featured everything from home built specials to works entered production cars and led to many long-standing careers in motor sport.

The Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Race already has 20 plus entries including D-Types, E-Types, XKs and saloons with two promised Tojeiro Jaguars, including one ex Jim Clark car and adding atmosphere in the Paddock will be the original Ecurie Ecosse Transporter.

Castle Combe historic race carsThe historic Aston Martin Race will feature a range of 1.5 and 2 litre pre war cars many with period racing history and then a range of DB2 & DB3 types that were so successful at both Le Mans and elsewhere in the 50’s. It’s also hoped to have several of the legendary DB3S cars with period Le Mans history as the iconic British manufacturer celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The Fiscar Historic Intermarque Race celebrates the sports GT battles that took place all over Europe in the 50’s especially at Le Mans and will feature Aston Martins, Austin Healeys, ACs, Jaguars, Lotus, MGs and other well known marques. The cars are all to strict period spec and are raced in the spirit of the period.

The VSCC Race for Modified Pre War Sports Car grid brings quality cars and frenetic competition, while the big Healeys return for their own special trophy. Further details of other exciting cars that will be competing, plus the special parades will be announced over the coming months.
